What is Socksify?

Socksify is a SOCKSv5 compatible anonymous HTTP proxy server. The SOCKSv5 protocol is also known as "Authenticated Firewall Traversal" because it provides secure authentication and application-layer support for firewall traversal. Please be aware that the Socksify system is still in beta and bear with us as we work through all the kinks.

What is the difference between Proxify® and Socksify?
|
Both Proxify® and Socksify are anonymous proxies. However, they use completely different technology. Proxify® is a web-based proxy while Socksify is an HTTP/SOCKS proxy. To use Proxify®, just go to proxify.com in your Web browser and enter a URL (website address) in the form provided. Using Proxify® is like using a search engine, except that it displays other websites rather than search search results. Proxify® offers SSL encryption, ad blocking, and many other features. The main advantages of Proxify® are ease of use, customizable features, and portability. The main advantages of Socksify are compatability with third-party applications and compatability with all websites, including those that require Java. Socksify is explained further below.

How is it used?

To use Socksify, simply configure your applications (such as web browsers) to use Socksify's SOCKS proxy. When you access the Internet, remote servers (such as websites) will only see an IP address that belongs to one of our proxy servers. Socksify masks your IP address completely.

Why would I use it?
Socksify is used for many reasons, such as:
- to be anonymous online
- to hide your IP address, making you untraceable
- to route around temporary network outages
- to protect your privacy while traveling abroad
Please note: At this time, Proxify® is better suited for the following uses:
- to overcome blocking software at work, school, and libraries
- to overcome state sponsored censorship in many countries
